    [Travel] Ocho Rios, Jamaica

    Ocho Rios, Jamaica

    Dunn' s  River Rapids
This place is a water park like no other. The raging river rapids is an adventure that you would never forget.  The combination of adventure, danger, and excitement makes you forget that you are actually in a park. The rocks are sharp and slippery, the water warm and inviting, and the people were out of this world friendly. Not to mention they have little bars set up along the entrance of the attraction and needless to say I was intoxicated and half ready for the excursion.  Hand in hand, in male- female order from the bottom of the rapids and all the way to the top where you celebrated with your partners, took pictures and enjoy the rest of the scene that they had to offer.

    [Video] picking out a switch

    switches and switch picking.

If you are over the age of 36 you are very familiar with what a switch is. That is the last set of offspring coming from parents who exercise the discipline of their children with the use of it. Now the rest of you, will know by the end of this post.

    What a switch is...

a switch is a disciplinary device taken from the green branches of a young tree. The outer bark or skin is removed from the green branch and then it is used to get some straightening.  The intensity of impact is measured by swish sound it emits when swung. See attached video of switch picking for example of that swishing sound.

    switch picking...

In most cases the child that's about to get the disciplinary action exercised upon is usually the one who has to bare the emotional distress of picking the switch that is gonna welt marks ...

    [Blog] Raising Children

Raising Kids the war for our kids is a big one. so, as parents we must arm ourselves with the proper ammunition to deal with them. ( the know how). very few of us were provided manuals when we were giving this mission to raise children, and those who have constantly find themselves revising it. We often times find that when we become parents, we not only become parents to our kids but also to those of other parents. parental instincts you may call it. what we do in this blog is share and/or trade information with other parents concerning the more feasible way to handle certain issues that may arise. I often wonder what type of things should I expose my children to or what to keep them away from. Sometimes the most innocent of things ignored can cause such a negative impact on them and on the contrary keep them ...

    [Recipe] Smothered Turkey wings

    Southern style Smothered Turkey wings

The idea for this meal came to me when I showed up at a family members home who happened to have some turkeys wings in the freezer they disnt know what to do with. Granted we were no where near thanksgiving,  which seems like the only time we are allowed to enjoy Turkey, i had certainly built up an appetite for it. Needless to say we gave it a go and what an eat. These smothered Turkey wings literally just falls off of the bone before you can get them on the fork. Although they do take a rather long time to cook (4 hours) they're absolutely worth the wait.

    Serve with:

I served these Turkey wings with extra cheesy macaroni and cheese,  seasoned butter beans, and corn bread but I really feel like white rice instead of the pasta would have complimented it a whole lot better.  Butter beans ...

    [Blog] kids are strange as...

My kids are the strangest of strange

So, it's been a while since my son and I have been able to hang out on our usual Sunday (son_day) being that he's been out of the country, enjoying the beautiful beaches of the Bahamas for most of the summer. Well, upon his return, he has made it his business to spend some very well missed quality time with me and is not taking "No" or "later" for an answer. So, after rearranging a few things to free up for this "NOW" time, I planned a few things special things for us to do. We started off by visiting a few family members, took a trip to the park  and grabbed a bite to eat at a local burger joint where we spoke about his progress in school his goals for the month and a few other things. Perhaps putting too much on him ...

    [Recipe] Beef Pate'

    Beef Pate'

Beef Pate': a feast in baked flour

Everyone is going to call it by a different name depending on where you are from you may have heard them referred to as "empanadas" if you are of Hispanic decent or what have you,  and many are going to make it their way or however it was taught to them...  in the United States Virgin Islands (st croix, st john, and st thomas) we call them Pate', and after hours of prying many of the ingredients out of my mother's head, this is how I make it.

    Beef Pate': serve as appetizers

These beef pate's can be served as a main, but you may also make them a little smaller than I did and serve them as appetizers for family functions and or sorting events.

[Blog] a lot to the name

A friend of a friend of mine brought to my attention a very troubling behavior that we have come to easily accept without second thoughts. This is something that for a long time would result in you being straightened out, and many times including a slap to the face because in reality, it is what you are doing when you call someone out of their name. An important fact to consider is that no matter how innocent or well-intended the name calling or nickname may be, it will and does affect that person. May it be in a positive or a negative outcome, the fact still remains. We know that everything has a definition, or every name has its meaning, and it informs us as to what the word means. Now when we hear a word, we associate the subject with the definition of it at near light speeds, all ...

[Jump on it] Moving that weight

    moving that weight

Just dropped another "jump on it" project for pro-player artists to collaborate on. This track we've decided to call "moving that weight" and for good reason. It is produced by Dj Jahbarz|for sect music. This track is an uptempo track

    moving that weight: the concept.

The concept of the song is one with a twist. The first time you hear the song, it may give the impression of someone living the lifestyle of a drug dealer, or a drug transporter (mule) or the like. Although listening to it, you'll quickly realize that the song is actually talking about the everyday life of drivers hauling weight on the highway for a moving or logistics company. Terms that can be used in either business was used intentionally to inhibit that desired thought...

    [Blog] Fungus eating fish

What this guy did with the fungus eating fish...

I recently had the opportunity to visit Cozumel Mexico on a wonderfully planned vacation with the family and never in these plans did I expect to experience what I had with these fungus eating fish. They all sat there in shock as this large pack of fish hungrily attacked my feet. It is an experience that I'd like to share. How about this for a tickling experience? fungus eating fish. I thought it was absurd until the vendor insisted on us trying it out... of course at a reduced rate. Now,  what I am supposed to do is stick my bare feet into this tank, and the hungry fish are going to eat all of the fungus off of my feet. In my mind I'm thinking poor fish because anyone that knows me, knows that these feet ain't nothing to play with. seriously.    check out the video ...

[Blog] networking with local independent artists for success

Why independent artists should be networking

There is a very great Importance of  Networking between local artists that can not be stressed enough or over stated and or over-exaggerated. You have probably heard the early bird cliche', and getting to it, so on and so forth, well those opportunities comes from connections we have encountered in our lives by how ever method that we have connected with them. It is so important that we as independent artists should use as much time out of our daily life to go out networking. However, there are way too many Independent artists, especially on the local industry that are not networking enough these days, cutting themselves off of possibilities. plain and simple, it's a necessity if you would like to be successful on  the local level, which is more than likely where we begin, unless your a military brat.

Independent artists that are networking do better.

    Whether for reasons of ...

    [Artist Development] your circle

Your Circle  [ birds of a feather flock together ]      It appears that nowadays, every artist pretty much have their circle. The people that were pretty much there with that artist, wanted the things that artist wanted, and pushed for that artist's success as if it were they themselves were  that artist and reaping the rewards for it. Your circle should be filled with people that are heading in the same direction that you as an artist is or want to be heading in. You should get to really know the people in your circle and what it is they do. As cliche as it may seem, those things can turn around and bite you in the rear. Be in the company of other artists who are doing better than you and network. No way should you surround yourself with those who have nothing to do with your craft, and can ...

A day on the Grand Cayman.
The day on the Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, is one worth remembering. The day started out around 11 am and our first stop was "Margaritaville". We all enjoyed cocktails and appetizers along with some great island music that made it difficult to not get up and dance. The crowd was a very festive one and they all showed their festive sides as they hooped and hollered the whole time enjoying the environment.  We went to a local restaurant where they served seafood as well as many of the islands local dishes and indulged in some nicely seasoned local fish under the shade of the town center structure. One that halfway resembled Stonehenge in a way.   At around 3pm decided that walking around the island was a little tiring and ended up on the island tours can full and tipsy.

This post is basically for us to help recognize the signs of Love and also the effects that it may have on us. of course it will effect us all in a different way but effect us it will. Sharing what I over stand to be Love is my way of getting others who have not felt it, to get an idea of what this beautiful feeling is like. "What they say"  is the single recorded by Abdul Jabar for sectmusic and features his young nephew Paperchaser and cousin Jay Savage. The track was produced by Dj Jahbarz for sectmusic entertainment.

    What they say: The concept

The concept of the single spins around the idea that nothing that any one says about you should stop you from doing what it is that you are supposed to be doing. In fact, the fact that you have people talking about you, should really be a motivating factor and not a thing to be thrown off about. In everything that you do, you should expect some sort of adversity or certain groups of people going against the grain for many reasons whatsoever. You should actually be honored to have opposition or contrasting opinions because it allows you to see or observe things that you would not ordinarily consider ...

The Album was recorded all with the intentions of being a voice for mentally, physically and verbally abused women who are in no position to speak for themselves. It was also a voice to the abusive male that women were tired of the abuse and were ready to take a stand against it on all levels.  Not just Anybody was the first single recorded for the project. Its impact on the soul made it the obvious route to follow to stay relevant to the concept and it later became the title of the entire album. Powerful for the strong messages that Whisper has encoded into his verses aimed at opening the ears and mind of the conscious and perhaps confused if you are not one with one eye open. The SECT MUSIC  produced project was one of the quickest productions put together that I've witnessed. The week of April 8-15 Whisper was clearly in a zone and held no prejudices over tracks, topics and definitely held no punches. For a week straight in production, the artist also known as Thug Nasty laid two songs per night  to complete the 12 song album. His basis for this hunger, was well, " I don't have time to waste, I'm only getting older." that statement only made Whisper's hunger more intense as he went on to release "Options" and Dance like fools" days after the ...

The new version of the song is called "over everything" and now features nephew Paperchaser. the Abdul Jabar single "you still believe" was released in 2012. The track is produced by Dj Jahbarz for sect music entertainment. It is one of those tracks that allows you to see the more conscious and powerful side of Abdul Jabar. The overall feel of the song is that of the early 90's hip hop era and it's a timeless piece that can be appreciated in these days and times. The song will put you into a thinking mindset and you will easily agree that this song is definitely a point for hip hop and the state that it's in.

    You believe in: The concept

    Ape Shit feat. Paperchaser|Jay Savage

Artist: Jay Savage, Abdul Jabar, Paperchaser Released 2013

    The concept: Ape shit

Ape shit is the musical warning to wack MC's from the sectmusic affiliates. In case there was any doubt about the versatility of the artists on this track, they all reveal a dark side that we haven't heard much of in recent compilations prior to this track. Ape shit taunts at some local mediocre MC's, outright warning them not to provoke any battles, confrontations, or otherwise with artists with the potential to take things up a notch. Pretty much going from 0 to 100 quick like. They would get the opportunity to witness artist with the gift to change the world as we know it switch to being faceless individuals on guerilla type warfare.

The idea of this song is to kind of raise the standards for young women and all women for that matter,  to demand more from who they are dating and perhaps they can teach the same ethics,  standards, or morals to their born or unborn children. At the same time let them know that there are guys out there who can still satisfy a woman in ways other than just sex. Men who can stimulate her through intellectual conversations,  and men who still treat women with respect.  The song also challeges, or in fact,  it raises the status quo,  As the chorus suggest, for men to step it up. Men need to be reminded that there are guys out there who will give her that royal treatment and without false pretences The song depicts the artist as the raised ...
