    [Recipe] Smothered Turkey wings

    Southern style Smothered Turkey wings

The idea for this meal came to me when I showed up at a family members home who happened to have some turkeys wings in the freezer they disnt know what to do with. Granted we were no where near thanksgiving,  which seems like the only time we are allowed to enjoy Turkey, i had certainly built up an appetite for it. Needless to say we gave it a go and what an eat. These smothered Turkey wings literally just falls off of the bone before you can get them on the fork. Although they do take a rather long time to cook (4 hours) they're absolutely worth the wait.

    Serve with:

I served these Turkey wings with extra cheesy macaroni and cheese,  seasoned butter beans, and corn bread but I really feel like white rice instead of the pasta would have complimented it a whole lot better.  Butter beans ...

    [Blog] from pawns to Queens

    From pawns to Queens

    Introduction

How many times have you heard someone say that "life is like chess" Or maybe "you're a checker player and i play chess" ? Well, there is a reason for that. Many people who participate in the game of chess pretty much have developed some sort of strategy from playing the game and have somehow incorporated it into their daily lives. For the purposes of this blog though, I am going to use the analogy of pawns to make comparisons between the pawn and the young woman and basically the means in which she becomes or can become a Queen. It can be used in the same sense for young males, though we focus on the woman for she is who is responsible for the upbringing of the coming generations. Life is like a game of chess and we are all pretty much pawns on the board. We are ...

    Gatlinburg, Tennessee

    What's to see in Gatlinburg?
Your probably wondering what in the world could be interesting to do in Gatlinburg, well, youd be very surprised. It is not just home of year round snow and winter activities, bumper cars, and bikers. It also happens to be the Tennessee side of the great Smokey mountains. That was our primary reason for going though definitely not out only one.  We wanted to see SNOW. Though unfortunately for us, at that time of the year there was none in sight. We literally had to go into downtown Gatlinburg where man made snow was their forte.  The kids were definitely happy about that discovery. So, skiing and snow tubing it was until tired of snow they were. We spent hours at a bumper cars track taking turns watching the kids that couldn't ride and burning rubber around the largest set of tracks in the area. It ...

    [Poetry] Casualty of War

CASUALTY OF WAR I don’t think I’ll make it out alive this time The odds have always been against me in battle This time around something is different I’m out of tune with my surroundings and there’s a sense of defeat For the first time I feel like I’m out of my element As the battle ensues I feel myself getting closer to God The onslaught of bullets and explosions is too much to bare Round after round of hatred, racism, and death whiz by my head, but fail to penetrate it The earth rumbles from the barrage of tanks firing massive shells of depression The enemy is on the verge of destroying me So I hold fast and take cover The 23rd Psalm begins to roll off my tongue The blasts and shrieks of verbal artillery get closer & closer Suddenly I hear a voice tell me to hold your ground…No surrender, No retreat The Warrior’s spirit is still very much alive in me As ...

[Blog] Abdul Jabar: Music is not what I do...

It is who I am, day in day out. it is what I awake and doze off to.

After Days of recording, mixing, producing, arranging, listening, and repeating the process over and over through out the course of the week, I thought this was a great time to finally get some work in. If that made sense to you, then it is probably because you view this music life as I do, a life of music. What we do in the quest to get this music heard, is not work. It is our mission, our purpose and It is our lives work being put on to tracks that We put our hearts in.  This is not something that We chose to do, but something that chose Us.As a young child I remembered putting boom boxes one in front of the other, one on play, one on record while my sister and I rapped verses that we wrote over ...

    [Blog] Raising Children

Raising Kids the war for our kids is a big one. so, as parents we must arm ourselves with the proper ammunition to deal with them. ( the know how). very few of us were provided manuals when we were giving this mission to raise children, and those who have constantly find themselves revising it. We often times find that when we become parents, we not only become parents to our kids but also to those of other parents. parental instincts you may call it. what we do in this blog is share and/or trade information with other parents concerning the more feasible way to handle certain issues that may arise. I often wonder what type of things should I expose my children to or what to keep them away from. Sometimes the most innocent of things ignored can cause such a negative impact on them and on the contrary keep them ...

My kids are the strangest of strange

So, it's been a while since my son and I have been able to hang out on our usual Sunday (son_day) being that he's been out of the country, enjoying the beautiful beaches of the Bahamas for most of the summer. Well, upon his return, he has made it his business to spend some very well missed quality time with me and is not taking "No" or "later" for an answer. So, after rearranging a few things to free up for this "NOW" time, I planned a few things special things for us to do. We started off by visiting a few family members, took a trip to the park  and grabbed a bite to eat at a local burger joint where we spoke about his progress in school his goals for the month and a few other things. Perhaps putting too much on him ...

    "Turnpike Thumpin"

There we were searching for a place to physically express how we felt for one another. From five star hotels to sleazy motels, we had pretty much tried them all, but to a disappointing end. "Maybe this wasn't meant for tonight" she chuckled. For the last few days this had been our luck. Either there were no vacancies, or prices were way too high to be legal. We just knew that tonight would be the night to get our mature thing going. The moment I picked her up from her place, She could barely keep her hands to herself and I was in bliss. The energy and anticipation had grown so high between us only to be let down by this inconvenience.  There was an awkward silence that pretty much confirmed between the two of us,  that we would call it a night and try it again when the stars and galaxies ...

    [Artist Development] your circle

Your Circle  [ birds of a feather flock together ]      It appears that nowadays, every artist pretty much have their circle. The people that were pretty much there with that artist, wanted the things that artist wanted, and pushed for that artist's success as if it were they themselves were  that artist and reaping the rewards for it. Your circle should be filled with people that are heading in the same direction that you as an artist is or want to be heading in. You should get to really know the people in your circle and what it is they do. As cliche as it may seem, those things can turn around and bite you in the rear. Be in the company of other artists who are doing better than you and network. No way should you surround yourself with those who have nothing to do with your craft, and can ...

I Know How To Bring Female Rappers Together  By Myiah N Ford  What is detrimental to the success of future female rappers is unity within the world of Hip-Hop/Rap music and entertainment between female rappers. A wider spectrum of female presence in Hip-Hop music and entertainment can be produced through education, membership association, and community support, however, this is one of the greatest challenges to entertainment in the twenty-first century. There should exist an international organization geared toward the development and support of the people, agencies, organizations and corporations that plan, build, maintain, and improve our communities of female rappers. Working together, these groups contribute to a higher and sustainable quality of female music entertainment and life. In the music industry, It is not uncommon for big artists to perform songs that they themselves didn't write, but are mere voices of the writer. These writers have been known as ghost writers. Writers have also been known to collaborate with the artist in the composition of choruses or hooks, and assist with verses and arrangement of such. Point is, there are lots of great opportunities for you, the writer in this business.  Imagine if your work was being performed by a celebrity and your getting writer credits and royalty on your piece.

    [Artist Development] Knowing your Image

Your appearance or image is better accepted from the audience when the can feel your authenticity.  Your image should be treated like your reputation and guarded to whatever degree.  If that image or appearance is that of an educated artist,  that is what the audience will expect. Basically be who you are, wear what you wear, and act your natural self.

[Love and Advice] Love making is mental

    Love Making is Mental

In a perfect world, love making would only be physical and would not require the involvement of the mind in order for both parties to be intimately satisfied. Unfortunately for us as human beings , it doesn't work that way and we do have to involve the mental aspect of our complicated bodies in order to pull it off. Upon meeting a person of some interest to us, we are pretty much attracted to the physical attributes of that person.  Once that attraction of the physical is established the mental attraction has already been activated. Adding to the physical attraction then becomes what we wish to learn from the subject. When the time comes for the physical act of love making to be made, if the mind is not fully involved, then performance becomes an issue. Then if performance becomes an issue, then not soon after that does ...

    [kollabahz] Hiphop

It is important that we know about the genre of music in which we have take the liberty of representing. I am referring to #Hiphop, Which for generations has served as tool for motivation and self pride to many young urban kids. It has not only brought millions of people together in harmony and unity, but has also brought them together in causes that revolutionized a society that we are now in. Through Hiphop, entities that we need not mention have taken control of not only the music that expresses the culture but also those who listen to and live it. Once those entities had gained control of this "niche", It was a piece of cake to set the people in disarray. Yes, Hiphop... but why?    First, we must ask ourselves "What is Hiphop?" which is the purpose of this page.  We're going to begin by first using clip of an interview with KRS-1 (Hiphop artist and Black ...

[Blog] networking with local independent artists for success

Why independent artists should be networking

There is a very great Importance of  Networking between local artists that can not be stressed enough or over stated and or over-exaggerated. You have probably heard the early bird cliche', and getting to it, so on and so forth, well those opportunities comes from connections we have encountered in our lives by how ever method that we have connected with them. It is so important that we as independent artists should use as much time out of our daily life to go out networking. However, there are way too many Independent artists, especially on the local industry that are not networking enough these days, cutting themselves off of possibilities. plain and simple, it's a necessity if you would like to be successful on  the local level, which is more than likely where we begin, unless your a military brat.

Independent artists that are networking do better.

For a week straight in production, the artist also known as Thug Nasty laid two songs per night  to complete the 12 song album. Ape Shit feat. Paperchaser|Jay Savage

Artist: Jay Savage, Abdul Jabar, Paperchaser Released 2013

    The concept: Ape shit

Ape shit is the musical warning to wack MC's from the sectmusic affiliates. In case there was any doubt about the versatility of the artists on this track, they all reveal a dark side that we haven't heard much of in recent compilations prior to this track. Ape shit taunts at some local mediocre MC's, outright warning them not to provoke any battles, confrontations, or otherwise with artists with the potential to take things up a notch. Pretty much going from 0 to 100 quick like. They would get the opportunity to witness artist with the gift to change the world as we know it switch to being faceless individuals on guerilla type warfare.

At the same time let them know that there are guys out there who can still satisfy a woman in ways other than just sex. Men who can stimulate her through intellectual conversations,  and men who still treat women with respect.  The song also challeges, or in fact,  it raises the status quo,  As the chorus suggest, for men to step it up.
