Mexican Taco Salad

 

I have been a Moes, Taco Bell and Mexican food fan for quite sometime now, and so much so that I figured that I could do this myself and save a fortune while ensuring that I know whats going into my meals. I often find myself asking the question… “why not make my own Mexican meals?”   I rarely get to order taco salad there and when I do, there is never enough meat. So, i decided to do my very own Taco Salad. This one has enough of everything that I enjoy, Meat, Cheese, and veggies.

Serve with:

Well apparently the is taco salad is a complete meal in itself. Of you must serve it with something,  I would suggest tortilla chips and a variety of dips. Something like guacamole and cheese or salsa.

Instructions
The Shells
  1. Pour oil into a saucepan until half full and bring to frying heat.
  2. Using a ladle, submerge the tortilla shells into the oil. The ladle will also be used to form the shape of the shells in the saucepan.
  3. Pull the shells out with tongs when they have been cooked.
  4. Follow this step until desired amount of shells are reached.
Putting it together
  1. Add a layer of ground beef to the cooked tortilla shells.
  2. Add a layer of refried beans.
  3. Add a handful of shredded cheese
  4. Add another layer of ground beef and cheese, then add the lettuce.
  5. You may choose to add more vegetables to your taco salad, that would be done here.
  6. Top with sour cream, black olives and taco sauce.
